Chase Sapphire - Continuity Fail!

Dear Chase: if you're going to use the same characters in a series of commercials, get your story straight!

I've got a lot of beef with these commercials (stupid coloration, lame gender/relationship roles, generally shitty acting), but THE WORST has to be the lack of continuity between the two. It is, clearly, the same couple in both ads. However, in the first one, it is determined that they cannot use their points on a vacation, because the woman has spent them all on a dress. Everyone seems okay with that. However, in the second, they are clearly using their points on a vacation. I guess it's not a Big Deal, but it's cleverness and attention to detail that make ads good - and this series fails in both of those areas.

(Yeah, I'm back, at least for now. We'll see.)

Yes we am!

This was one of the first commercials I ever really loved. This guy is classic...

I tried this once, but ended up getting a cab instead...

A Gem from Mountain Dew

I don't see too many Dew ads these days. It's pretty much been superseded by Red Bull and other such drinks, I suppose. This one was on during basketball yesterday, though, and is pretty awesome:

You really have to love this ad. It has history/politics nerdery (though not very esoteric/obscure at all, I still say Lincoln/Douglas counts), a badass Abe Lincoln, chair violence...

Too Bad Their Phone Service Sucks...

...because T-Mobile has the best commercials out of the cell companies by a mile. Make that several miles. Below the fold are some of my favorites.

1.

---Kind of in the same vein as the one we previously posted; this time it's all about the little girl's line: "She thinks you're super delicious." Really, sometimes one perfect moment can catapult an otherwise mediocre commercial into awesomeness.

2.

---Alli hates this commercial, but I think it's freaking brilliant. I just like their sarcasm, I guess?

3.

---This one is actually pretty old, but will always be one of T-Mobile's greats. The best line here is pretty obvious...

We'll have to do a whole post about the D-Wade / Barkley series they've been running for a while now - prime Sports Figures Are Hilarious material!

Magic Wardrobe

The thing I love about this commercial is that it could basically happen with the guys and gals I hang out with. The ladies love their shoes and the guys their beer... these passions are generally expressed through hysterical screaming. Does this seem sadly familiar to anyone else?

See this masterpiece after the jump.

Granted, I prefer better beer than Heineken, but still. And is it just me, or does the hyperventilating guy near the end look exactly like Tim from the British office?

A-Rod: Body by Milk. No... wait...

Generally, we here at Ad-versed are concerned with tv commercials, but we're not above honoring a great print ad. Take this one for instance, featuring Alex "A-Rod" Rodriguez. Body by milk!!! Hah. Now that's acting.
